His Love Endures Forever

There truly is no greater love than the one who lays down his life for his friends. (John 15:13) That's what Good Friday is--remembering the cost of our freedom. It cost everything. There has never been a greater act of love in all of history and I want to pause and give thanks to God for what he has done for all of human kind, and what he has done for me.
As I paused to reflect today, I read Invited by Lorie Martin. In her contemplative exercises she suggests taking Psalm 136 and making it our own. So I've rewritten this Psalm as a love note to God today--to give him thanks and remember who he has been in my life.
To Him alone who does great wonders, like bringing beauty from ashes,
His love endures forever.
To Him who hold the hand of my sweet Zach in heaven,
His love endures forever.
To him who brings flowers after long winter seasons,
His love endures forever.
With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, you pulled me up out of the muck and the mire so I could find life again,
His love endures forever.
To him who holds the brokenhearted close to his heart and weeps with them,
His love endures forever.
To him who brought me from darkness to light,
His love endures forever.
To him who protects me and prays for me day and night,
His love endures forever.
To him who led me through the desert so I could sing on the heights,
His love endures forever.
To him who struck down all that came against me,
His love endures forever.
To him who gave me heaven as my inheritance,
His love endures forever.
To the one who remembered me when I cried, inconsolable all through the night,
His love endures forever.
To the one who let me drink of His love when I was empty and sad,
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.
